I have advanced training in Medical Hypnotherapy
and the use of Hypnotherapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
What's Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach aimed at creating
positive changes in your life. By relaxing the body and
the conscious mind, we can rewrite old negative programming,
reframe painful experiences and access inner wisdom.
Hypnosis induces a trance, which produces a state of deep
relaxation and intense, focused attention. Contrary to popular
misconceptions, hypnotic trance is not like sleep or being
unconscious. If you have ever read a book and lost track
of time, or driven to your destination and not remembered
the actual process of driving there then you have experienced
a mild form of hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy is guided by the intentions of the client
and often uses their own words repeated by the therapist
to the deep mind in order to create the desired changes,
so you are never out of control. Hypnotherapy is performed
fully clothed and is very relaxing. Many clients report
feeling rested and revitalized after their sessions. Hypnotherapy
can be used alone or in conjunction with other medical treatments
and therapeutic approaches including: bodywork, chiropractic,
acupuncture, psychotherapy and conventional Western treatments.
How is Hypnotherapy different from Stage Hypnosis?
No one can be hypnotized against their
will. No one can be made to bark like a dog or
do anything that is truly against their nature. This includes
revealing secrets about themselves. A stage hypnotist seeks
out those who are highly suggestible and willing to
have a bit of fun. A person in a hypnotic trance does not
loose awareness or control. A person in trance will
not do anything they would not do in a normal state of consciousness.
Education
I studied hypnotherapy and recieved advanced
training in Medical hypnotherapy, which accesses
the mind's ability to facilitate healing and control pain
at Marilyn Gordon's Center for Hypnotherapy Certification
in Oakland. This school specializes in the Transformational
Healing Method (THM). This method was developed by Marilyn,
who has received several awards, among them the Hypnosis
Achievement Award.
I also have advanced training in Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder from the Mottin & Johnson Institute
of Hypnosis. This training allows me to work in conjunction
with your doctor or psychiatrist, or psychotherapist. As
hypnosis is a drug-free modality it blends well with the
use of supervised medication regimes and talk therapy. Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder can be mild or severe presenting
a variety of symptoms ranging from: flashbacks of traumatic
events, anxiety, depression and emotional numbness. Please
consult your doctor for an evaluation.
